I'm Jason Belk. I'm a software engineer at Cisco Systems by day and an AI consultant for Reno businesses on the side.
I have a B.S. in Computer Science, spent years at Network to Code (a specialized consulting firm), and now build AI-powered prototypes and automations in my own time. I know what works, what doesn't, and when the honest answer is "you don't need AI for that."
Sierra Code Co. is a side practice, not a startup. I take on a few clients at a time and give each one my full attention. If I can't help, I'll say so — and point you to someone who can.

Common Questions
How much does this cost?
Advisory sessions start at $200/hour (1-hour minimum). Scoped projects like prototypes and integrations run $3,000–$10,000 depending on complexity. Monthly retainers for ongoing work are $2,000–$4,000/month. I also offer a $1,500 day rate for intensive working sessions. You'll always know the price before any work begins.
Do I need to be technical?
Not at all. Most of my clients aren't technical — that's why they hire me. You explain what your business needs in plain English, and I handle the technical side. If I start using jargon, call me out.
Do you only work with Reno businesses?
Reno is my home base, and I prefer working with local clients — there's real value in being able to meet in person. That said, I'm happy to work remotely if the project is a good fit.
What if the project doesn't work out?
Every project starts with a clear scope and price. If we discover mid-project that the approach isn't working, I'll tell you directly and we'll adjust. I don't charge for work that doesn't deliver value, and I don't pad hours. If I can't solve your problem, I'll say so.
Is this your full-time job?
No — I'm a software engineer at Cisco during the day. Sierra Code Co. is a side practice. That means I'm selective about the projects I take on, which means you get my full attention, not a junior developer. It also means I have no incentive to oversell you — I don't need your project to make rent.
What happens after the project is done?
You own everything I build. I hand over all code, documentation, and credentials. If you want ongoing support, we can set up a monthly retainer. If not, no hard feelings — you have everything you need to run it yourself or hand it to another developer.
